Obituary for Nancy C. Bendel

Nancy Bendel, 82 of La Crosse died on September 16, 2024. Nancy was born in La Crosse on September 22, 1941, to Kenneth and Dorothy Ammerman. She graduated from Central High School in 1959. Nancy married her classmate, Gordon Bendel, on October 8, 1960. Nancy will be most remembered for her love of her family, friends and her dogs Bear and Sugar.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Paula (Charles) Lawrence and Glenda (Dean) Donley; grandsons: Gordon (Vicky) Lawrence and their daughters, Cecilia, Vada, and Loretta; Peter (Molly) and their sons, Patrick, Oliver, and Conor; Adam (Sarah) Donley and their children, Payton and Porter; and Jake (Denise Borchert) Donley.

She is further survived by her sisters, Sandra (David) Kjos and Debra (Mic) Callahan; brother-in-law, Douglas (Margie) Bendel; nephews, Mark (Karen) Bendel, Aaron Bendel, Michael Bendel, Al (Cheri) Kjos, Garin Ammerman, and Greg Ammerman; and nieces, Eileen (Kevin) Fossom and Amy (John) Espe.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Bendel; her parents, Kenneth and Dorothy (Caucutt) Ammerman; her in-laws, Armin and Ethel (Starch) Bendel; sister, Yvonne Ammerman; brother, Garmin Ammerman; and sister-in-law, Georgia Ammerman; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held from noon until 3:00 p.m., on Friday, September 27 at Timmer’s 10 Mile Pub, W4516 Eddie Ave - Hwy 14, La Crosse, WI 54601. All are welcome.
