Obituary for William A. "Bill" Martell

He was born March 11, 1939 on French Island to LaVerne and Margaret (LaFleur) Martell. Bill owned and operated a tool and die company in Onalaska. On May 1, 2004, he married Nell Halvorson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in West Salem.

Survivors include his wife, Nell; step-children, Heather (Scott) Olson Clark and Carrie Tylinski (David Phillips); grandchildren, Austin, Elaura, Evelyne, and Aiden Clark and Michael Tylinski, Michelle (Sphirdon) Loli and Mathew Olson; sister, Delores (Ron) Lempke; Nell’s loving family; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister Marilyn (Merton) Onshus; brother, John (Katherin) Martell; and three special companions, Cheeto, Skippy, and Ollie.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in West Salem. Pastor Jean Schmidt will officiate. Burial will follow in Neshonoc Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m., until the time of service, Saturday, at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Berg-Hemker-Olson American Legion Post 51 or Our Savior’s Lutheran Church both in West Salem.
