Obituary for Florence Peters


Florence Ardell Peters passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and loved ones on Easter Sunday, March 31 st , after a courageous battle with thyroid cancer. Florence was born on November 11, 1937, to Joseph and Anna (Heintz) Hesselberg. She attended Lincoln Elementary School in Fish Creek. Florence graduated from Bangor High School.

Florence married Don Peters on December 1, 1956. Living in Cashton and rural Melvina until buying The Hesselberg Family Farm and milking cows until 1996 when they partially retired. Florence enjoyed the simple things in life Faith, Family, Friends, and Gardening. She worked at the Bangor Township Election booth for many years. She loved taking their camper to Arizona in the winters and camping with relatives and friends at various campsites. Florence was a very organized and hard- working woman who had a strong work ethic. She was also a member of the Bangor Lions Club for years.

Florence is survived by her husband, Don; 2 sons, Larry (Lisa) Peters of Rockland, Wis., Greg (Jan) Peters of Cannon Falls, Minn.; grandchildren, Jared (Ashley) Peters, Mandi (Marshall) Young, Kristen (Chris) Cullen, Hannah (Tyler) Regenscheid, David Peters, Josh (Jenny) Peters, Jon Peters, Darren Hugo, Kally (Ben) Bierman; many great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; Florence is further survived by her brothers and sisters, Stanley Hesselberg, Joan Bjorkman, Jean (Jim) Flock, Dennis (Sue) Hesselberg, and Mitzi Smith; and sisters-in-law, Carol Hesselberg, Karen Hesselberg, Bonnie Hesselberg-Howe, Rita Hesselberg, and Barb Hesselberg.

She was preceded in death by son, Brian Peters; daughter, Lisa Hugo; brothers and sisters, William (Lucille) Hesselberg, Lucille (Leroy) Severson, Hugh (Mildred) Hesselberg, Donald Hesselberg, Charles Hesselberg, Larry Hesselberg, Donnie Hesselberg, Robert Hesselberg, Doug Hesselberg, James Hesselberg, and Joe Hesselberg; and brothers-in-law, Lester Bjorkman and Dave Smith, and sister-in-law, Lois Hesselberg.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at St. Teresa of Kolkata Catholic Parish, 210 E Hamlin St, West Salem, WI 54669. Msgr. Jeffrey Burrill and Deacon Bob Zietlow will officiate. Burial will follow in Rockland Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service.
