Obituary for Margaret H, Haag

Margaret H. Haag, 93, of Mindoro, died February 22,2024 at Bethany St. Joseph Nursing Home. She was born May 23, 1930 in Mindoro to Ray and Aagot (Hanson) Storandt. Margaret was a teacher for 38 years in the Mindoro area, starting her career at the Rhyme School, then teaching at Lewis Valley and going on to Mindoro. She transitioned to a Reading Specialist where she served the Melrose-Mindoro school district.

On October 20, 1951, she married Donald Haag. When she wasn’t teaching, she was helping on the Haag family farm. She was also a very active member of the Mindoro Presbyterian Church serving in many capacities over the years. In her retirement, she was an avid gardener and loved to feed the local bird population. It was never a dull moment when the squirrels and deer got into her feeders.

Survivors include her sons, Danny (Sandy) of Holmen, David (Dawn Nastvold) of Galesville and a daughter, Marilyn of North Aurora, IL; 4 grandchildren, Stacey (Tim) Lightfoot, Brian Haag, Matt (Amanda) Haag and Jason Haag; 6 great-grandchildren, Tucker Haag, Jacob Butterfield, Kaylee Haag , Caleb Lightfoot, Ava Lightfoot and Aubrey Haag as well as a step-great grandchild, Hayden Schutz. She was also blessed to have 2 honorary grandchildren, Monica and Chris Fawcett. She is further survived by her sister, Gloria (Jacob) Jensen of Oshkosh; brother-in-law, George Wolf of Bangor; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her her husband of 56 years, Donald; her brothers, Reuben (Carol) Storandt; Raymond Storandt; her sister, Marcella (Robert) Koss; as well as her brothers-in-law, Clifford (Mildred) Haag and Roger “Rusty” (Angeline) Haag; and sisters-in-law, Margie (Paul) Lunde, Helen “Tootsie” (Glenn) Larson and Dorothy Wolf.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 29th at Noon at the Mindoro Presbyterian Church. Pastor Allen Hanson will officiate. Burial will be in the Farmington Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the church on Thursday, February 29th from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Memorials may be given to either the Mindoro Presbyterian Church, Mindoro First Responders, or to the Melrose-Mindoro school district. Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Jostad Chapel, West Salem, is in charge of the arrangements.
