Obituary for Robert "Bob" Nuttleman


Robert S. Nuttleman 86 of West Salem, WI passed away Sunday April 10, 2022, at his home. He was born March 14, 1936, to Ervin Sr and Alice (Hauser) Nuttleman. Gloria D. Nuttleman 85 of West Salem, WI passed away Saturday December 26, 2020, because of covid restriction no services were held. Robert married Gloria (Smith) on October 14, 1955, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. October of 2020, they celebrated 65 years of marriage. Robert and Gloria are survived by their children, Carey (Barb) Nuttleman, Karl (Julie) Nuttleman, Roberta Nuttleman. Grandchildren Lisa and Travis Nuttleman. Allison (John Jr) Warnecke, Joseph Nuttleman, great grandsons Carter and Braxton Warnecke. Gloria’s sisters Gladys (Delmar) Pettis and Diane Martine, sister-in-law Vera Smith, brother-in-law Ronald Rice. Robert and Gloria are proceeded in death by their parents, Alice and Ervin Nuttleman Sr, Ray and Theodora (Bernd) Smith, family members Edward and Phyllis Powell, Mary Rice, Darlene and Andy Campbell, Beverly and Frank Sr Koltermann, Jean and Robert Davis, brothers Donald Smith, Ray (Corky) Smith and brother-in-law Neil Martine, Ervin Jr and Barbara Nuttleman. Robert was a well-known mechanic in the area. Robert started his career raising chickens on the family farm located on Hwy M, in West Salem. Upon graduation from the West Salem High School, he started working at Trane Company, and had a side TV and Radio repair business. In 1959 Robert and Gloria purchased the land and home on Moos Rd in West Salem, where he started Nuttleman’s Garage. In the beginning years he worked on farm equipment and TV’s until automotive work became his primary source of employment specializing in rebuilding transmissions. Robert was able to work full-time in the shop until March 0f 2020 when his health started to deteriorate, however if he was having a good day, he would go to the shop to work. Robert’s son Karl worked along side him for 50 plus years, as Karl started working in the shop when he was old enough to hang tools. Gloria was the “rock” of Nuttleman’s garage duties included, making lunch every day, running for parts, making out statements, paying the bills and all that went with the “business end” of Nuttleman’s Garage. A Funeral Services/memorial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday April 19, 2022, at the Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home in West Salem. Visitation services will be held at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home in West Salem, WI from 4:00pm-7:00pm on Monday April 18, 2022, and 1 hour prior to service on Tuesday April 19th, 2022. Burial will be held at the Hamilton Cemetery on Hwy 16, West Salem, Wisconsin.
