Obituary for Timothy G. “Tim” Pickering

Timothy G. “Tim” Pickering, 65, of Bangor, Wisconsin, passed to his Heavenly home on July 29, 2023, after a long illness. His goal was to live long enough to meet his first great-granddaughter; which he did at one week old on July 23rd. Meeting her, seeing her face, holding her, gave him great joy and comfort. He passed away peacefully at his home with his beloved dog Jasper, and his sisters at his side six days later.

Tim had a kind heart. He was never a materialistic man. Tim would often give what he had to others in need, especially later in his life. He was known to strike up a friendly conversation with strangers, wherever he was. Tim treated people equally, and was not a judgmental person.

In his younger years, he served in the United States Army, for a short time, and was honorably discharged.

Tim later had two daughters with his longtime love, Danelle Hove.

He traveled a lot working construction, steel work, and painting. His biggest regret was the amount of time he allowed his addictions to take him away from his loved ones, especially his children and grandchildren.

Tim welcomed the Lord into his heart as he worked to make changes in his life. He reconnected with his "beautiful daughters" as he referred to them and cherished every moment spent with them and his grandchildren.

A special thank you to Loretta and Amber from "Comfort Keepers " for their wonderful care, friendship, and true understanding of Tim and his family's needs throughout the progression of his illness and preparation for transition from this life to the next. Appreciation also to Catie and Trisha from Inclusa for their assistance, and Gundersen Hospice.

Tim is survived by his daughters, Sarah (Rick Greene) Nofsinger and Melissa Gunderson; his grandchildren, Dawson (Emily), Lydia, Hailey, Nachure, and Brendan; and his great-granddaughter, Elianna; siblings, Kathy (Doug) Peterson, Robin (Bruce) Hansen, Joseph Pickering, and Todd (Emily) Pickering; his step-mother, Lilia Pickering; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene “Geno” Pickering and Barbara (Johnson-Pickering) Bertrand and his grandparents.

A Christian Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Fairview Cemetery in Bangor. Military honors will be rendered by the Anderson-Good American Legion Post 40 of Bangor and the United States Army Funeral Honor Guard.

A celebration of life will follow from 12 noon until 4:00 p.m., at the Bangor Rod and Gun Club adjacent to the Bangor Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
