Obituary for Michael J. "Mike" Spah


Michael John (Mike) Spah, 79, of La Crosse Wis., passed away unexpectedly in his home December 23, 2022.

He was born May 1, 1943, in La Crosse, to George and Ruth (Trapp) Spah.

Mike graduated from Central High School in 1962. He then married the love of his life, Linda Olloff, on March 3, 1972.

Mike spent 30 plus years driving school bus for Jelco / Laidlaw. In his freetime, Mike enjoyed playing bingo, bowling league for over 35 years, hunting, fishing, watching the Packers and Chicago Cubs play, and watching wrestling. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his three grandchildren.

“Papa Mike” will be deeply missed by his family.

Mike is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years, Linda; son, Tim (Katie) Spah; and grandchildren; Kaleb, Kiara, and Maddox Spah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Todd Spah; father-in-law, Richard Olloff; and mother-in-law, Marian Olloff.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Fredrickson Funeral Home, Woodruff Chapel, 4239 Mormon Coulee Rd., La Crosse. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
