Obituary for Theodore J. Nelson


Theodore J. Nelson passed away at home on 4/14/2022. He was born December 23, 1944 to Lyle and Lillian (Ender) Nelson in Holmen, WI. After graduation from Holmen High, Ted went to Milwaukee Tech to become certified as a diesel mechanic. He held a wide variety of jobs working in fuel injection, as a diesel mechanic and in construction. On April 29, 1967, Ted married Janet Hoerth in Milwaukee and they moved to Oconomowoc, WI where Ted took an apprenticeship at Carnation Can EDM to become a journeyman machinist. They moved to Watertown, WI in 1970. After work in at Carnation for 11 years, they moved back to Holmen and Ted got a job in the tool room at Trane Company doing precision grinding and heat treatment. He worked there for 26 years until his retirement. Ted liked to keep busy and always had a project in the works. Ted is survived by his wife; a sister, Sonja Behnken; two children, Colleen Cornelius and Kathy Larson; five grandchildren, Jasmine Barry (Sean), Mileena Siverhus, Lance Siverhus, Ashley Wallace, and Wally Roush Jr.; five great-grandchildren; a niece, Annette Grothem; and a son-in-law, Wally Roush Sr. (Beth). Ted was preceeded in death by his parent and one sister, Edna Grothem. A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1500 Sand Lake Rd., Holmen. A visitation will be from 11:30 a.m., until the time of service, Monday, at the church.
