Obituary for Pearl Mae Guinn


Pearl Mae (Whillock) Guinn, 88, passed away on November 10, 2020, at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in LaCrosse, WI. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Pearl was born in Lostwood, ND, to Fred and Martha(Charnetzki) Whillock in 1932. She grew up on a farm near Coulee, ND, and attended high school in Stanley, ND. Pearl married Clayton A. Guinn in 1950 and they moved to Minot, ND in 1952 where she lived most of her life before moving to LaCrosse, WI in 2018 to be near family. Pearl loved bowling and won many awards as well as teaching bowling. In her later years, Pearl did volunteer work by knitting thousands of baby caps for the hospital and crocheting lap robes for the nursing homes. She also enjoyed making jean quilts and gardening. Pearl wanted to be remembered for her kindness and willingness to help others. Pearl is survived by her daughter, Ellen Williams(David); her son, Larry Guinn(Becky); her grandchildren, Adam Kuehl(Keri), Aaron Kuehl(Christy), Gretchen Guinn Paquette(Chris), Kellen Guinn(Jess); three great grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother. The family would like to thank the staff at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center for their remarkable care of our loved one Pearl. She enjoyed her time there and was well taken care of. A memorial and burial service will be held in Minot, ND, at a later date when it is safer to travel and gather.
