Obituary for Sylvia J. Hetland
Sylvia J. Hetland, age 86 of West Salem died Monday June 3, 2024 at home. She was born in La Crosse on December 8, 1937 to Harry and Genevieve “Tootie” (Kenyon) Peaslee.
After many different types of jobs over the years Sylvia found her true calling as a CNA at Lakeview Health Center. She loved taking care of her “kids” there and only wanted to make their lives a little better. After retiring she stayed active with the auxiliary at Lakeview Health Center.
Her grandchildren were her world as well, taking them camping, the park and many other adventures over the years.
She is survived by her son, Randy Latshaw of West Salem; daughter, Kayla (Rick) Burt of Trempealeau; 2 granddaughters, Kressa and Cheyanne Burt of Galesville and Trempealeau.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Herb; son, Ricky Latshaw; parents; and in-laws.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on June 13, 2024, at the Fredrickson Funeral Home, Jostad Chapel, 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem. A graveside service and burial will take place at 11:30 a.m., in the Christ Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in Burr Oak. Pastor Jean Schmidt will officiate.
