Obituary for Christena "Kris" Maxine Lockington


Christena “Kris” Maxine Lockington (Jerome), 91, of Melrose, WI passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family, on December 30, 2023.

She was born on December 25, 1932, to Lyle and Ida Jerome. She married Donald Lockington on December 8, 1951 and raised five children together until his passing in 1983. She spent the past 38 years sharing a life with her special friend, Jim Bielefeldt, who gave her the upmost care for all those years. Kris enjoyed dancing, and then more dancing. She enjoyed music, especially Jim and his band, four- wheeler rides, going out to dinner, and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed her time with the Pine Tree Riders Club, the Red Hat ladies, and Homemakers.

Kris is survived by special friend Jim Bielefeldt; sons Monty (Jennifer) Lockington, Todd Lockington, Tory (Sheila) Lockington; daughter Kristi Pellowski; brother Gary (Jean) Jerome; sister-in-law Carol Jerome; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lyle and Ida Jerome; brothers Lyle Jr “Buzz” Jerome, James “Jim” (Gretchen) Benson; sisters Rosetta “Rosie” (Mert) Gilbertson, Shirley (James “Jimmy”) Pugh, Phyllis (Robert) Millard; husband Donald Lockington; son Ronald Lockington; son-in-law Michael Pellowski; daughter-in-law Cheryl Lockington and great granddaughter Patricia Cravens.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Mindoro Presbyterian Church, N8289 Church St., Mindoro, Wis., 54644. Pastor Allen Hanson will officiate. Burial will be in Black Oak Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Jostad Chapel, 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem and also from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service, Thursday, at the church.

A luncheon will be held at the Mindoro Town Hall following the burial service. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
