Obituary for Peter Congdon

Peter Eugene Congdon, 57, of Onalaska, Wis., and formerly of Caledonia, Minn., passed away peacefully, at his home surrounded by his loved ones, on September 25th, 2023.

Peter was adopted by Douglas and Marian Congdon in Bloomington Minnesota shortly after his birth on September 7, 1966. During his childhood, he enjoyed playing several sports, as well as hunting and fishing. He graduated from Viterbo University with a master’s degree in business administration and went on to run a very successful financial advising branch until he passed. Pete loved what he did with passion, he loved all of his clients, and happily worked hard to do his best for everyone. Peter loved going to concerts, watching football with family every Sunday, attending Oktoberfest, and he especially loved to take every opportunity to go golfing.

Peter's greatest love of all time was the love of his family. His wife Marie was his greatest treasure, best friend, and partner in crime. He loved his children with all of his heart, and there was never a bit of hesitation on his end when they needed his help. His grandchildren Savannah, Avery, Jack, and soon to be Sawyer were the absolute light of his life. The way they made him light up, and vice versa, was a beautiful thing to witness. There was no end to the love and laughter they shared.

Peter is survived by his wife, Marie and their two children: Kaitlin, her husband, Dan, and their daughters, Savannah and Avery; and Nicholas and his wife, Krissy, and their sons, Jack and Sawyer. He is also survived by his sister, Michelle, her husband Josh, as well as his father, Douglas Congdon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Marian.

Peter was very involved in his community; and he spent countless hours happily volunteering and served on several different boards. Some of Peter's favorite things to volunteer for were: feed my starving children, the ABLE board, the bike tour in La Crescent that he helped to create, and bar tending at Oktoberfest.

Peter made an impact on everyone that he met and had such a generous and loving heart. He will be immeasurably missed.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 2, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Caledonia. Rev. Steven E. Meyer will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Peter's family will host a visitation from 2:00 P.M., until 5:00 P.M., on Sunday, and from 10:00 A.M., until the time of service, Monday, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

A luncheon will be held after the burial at Elsie’s Bar and Grill in Caledonia.
