Obituary for Yvonne Isbell

Yvonne Sheran (Bouffleur) Isbell, 85, of La Crosse, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2023, at her home.

Yvonne was born August 6, 1937, to William Fay and Emma (Kuester) Bouffleur of Chaseburg, Wisconsin. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. Yvonne graduated from Westby (Wisconsin) High School in 1955. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary (Unit 202 – Chaseburg, Wisconsin) for 77 years (since 1946).

Yvonne worked for North Central Airlines and Midwest Express Airlines in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She met her future husband, George Isbell, at Milwaukee General Mitchell Airport as he worked for Ozark Airlines. They married on April 18, 1959. During their marriage, she and George loved to travel – visiting Europe, Australia, Hawaii, Alaska, and many other states (her favorite being Arizona). George passed away December 8, 2012, and she missed her soulmate terribly. Now, though, they can continue to laugh, travel, attend Milwaukee Brewers games and enjoy endless happy hours for eternity.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan (Frank) Bunker; one grandson, Ivan Purgill; one step-granddaughter, Gabriela Silva; three step-grandsons, Connor (Jordan) Bunker, Garrison Bunker, and Christian Bunker; two step-great-grandsons, Rohan and Nayan Pulla; and one step-great-granddaughter, Lorraine Bunker. Yvonne is also survived by one brother, Bruce (Sue) Bouffleur; one niece, Kim (Keith) Krejchik; and two great-nieces, Emily and Ella Krejchik.

To Bruce (and family): the utmost gratitude for always taking care of Yvonne … your unwavering dedication meant everything. A special thank you to the Lapp family for looking out for Yvonne over the past 10+ years … you always had a place in her heart and will continue to have ours. Many thanks, also, to Gundersen Health System and the doctors, nurses and staff that provided care for her over the past 6 years.

At her request, no formal service will be held. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
