Obituary for Jeffrey W. Euler


Jeffrey “Jeff” Wayne Euler, 71, of Holmen passed away peacefully at home on January 6, 2023 after a two and half year battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. He was surrounded by his loved ones.

Jeff was born on April 10, 1951 to Wayne and Marie (Wehrenberg) Euler in La Crosse, WI. He was baptized at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crosse. He attended school and was confirmed at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Salem until attending Onalaska Luther High School, graduating in 1969. He met his wife Carol on New Year’s Eve 1980, and they were married September 5, 1981 at Lewis Valley Lutheran Church in Holmen.

Jeff served in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1973 and was stationed in Germany. He also served in the United States Navy from 1974 to 1976. After his honorable discharge, Jeff began work at City Brewery in La Crosse, where he was employed for nearly 40 years.

In retirement, Jeff and Carol could frequently be found in Mikana, WI at their cabin on Red Cedar Lake, where they enjoyed family time and fishing. Jeff’s true life passion was waterfowl hunting, taking a special liking to snow goose hunting each spring in South Dakota. Jeff also enjoyed golfing, metal detecting and watching the Packers, Brewers, and Bucks play on TV.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his sister, Jeanne (Paul) Lehninger of Wauwatosa, WI; his four children: Matthew (Heather) Euler and their children Kiana, Victoria, and Savannah of La Crosse, Ellen (Nicholas Nawroth) Kennedy of Kettering, OH, Joshua (Amanda) Euler and their children Ellie, Avalee and Everett of Holmen, and Jenna (Ranjan Sigdel) Euler and their children Neil and Nora of Onalaska; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Steve and Betty Sacia of Holmen, Karen and Bill Knutson of Holmen, and Joanne and Eugene Mashak of Bangor; his nieces and nephews; and the family of Bernard Kennedy.

He is preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Bernard Kennedy; an infant sister, Lynne; and his mother-in-law and father in-law, Dorothy and Kenneth Sacia.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Paul Molling for his years of care and friendship to Jeff as well as the Oncology and Hospice teams at Mayo Clinic for their support of Jeff and his family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12 from 5 to 7 PM at Lewis Valley Lutheran Church rural Holmen (W5402 Co Rd V). Funeral services will be held on Friday January 13 at 11 AM with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will follow at Green Mound Cemetery.
