Obituary for Chad Thomas Osgood


Chad Thomas Osgood of Mindoro, WI., died at The University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, on September 24, 2021. He was born on November 19, 1968, to Dennis and Diane (Wadel) Osgood in La Crosse, Wis. Chad graduated from Melrose-Mindoro High School in 1987 and served in the United States Navy, as a Sonar Technician on the USS Olympia, a nuclear fast attack submarine, stationed out of Pearl Harbor, HI. Chad was named sailor of the year for 1992. He also received the Navy Achievement Medal from the Secretary of the Navy. In 2001, Chad met his wife, Angela (Niedfeldt). They married in 2003 in Mindoro. Chad was blessed with six beautiful daughters; his girls were his pride and joy. Chad had a strong work ethic and always provided for his family. Over the years he worked as an oversized load truck driver, quarry foreman and eventually started his own business, Osgood Services, which specialized in sand and gravel, staffing and consulting. Chad enjoyed hunting with his father, father-in-law, and daughters, farming, traveling the U.S for work and for fun with his wife and daughters, and making his friends and family laugh. Chad’s life may have been cut short, but he touched the lives of many. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Angela of Mindoro; six daughters, Atlanta (Dustin) Stanton of Melrose, Jesse (Jake) Manske of Gainesville MO, Mercedes Osgood of Sparta, Justice, Olympia, and Genevieve of Mindoro; his parents, Dennis and Diane Osgood of Mindoro; a brother, William (Nicole) Osgood of Onalaska; a sister, Kristin Osgood of West Salem; four grandchildren, Jack, Juniper, Ronan, and Ari; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the Mindoro Lions Park Shelter. Military honors will be rendered by the Gunderson-Gilbertson American Legion Post 507 of Mindoro and the United States Navy Funeral Honor Guard. There will be no visitation prior to the memorial service. A celebration of life will follow the military honors from 12 noon until 3:00 p.m., Saturday, the Mindoro Lions Park Shelter. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Jostad Chapel, West Salem, is in charge of arrangements.
