Obituary for Audrey Grace Guinn


Audrey Grace Guinn, 79, of Caledonia, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, July 17, 2021. Audrey was born on September 16, 1941 to Adolph and Ida Olson. Audrey and her siblings grew up on a farm outside of Coon Valley. She went to Onward, a one-room schoolhouse, and graduated from Westby High School. She went on to receive a secretarial degree from the Winona Secretarial School. She married Don Brye in 1960, they later divorced. Audrey had a 35-year career at Heileman’s. Starting as a secretary to the office manager and worked her way up to Director of Communications. While there she received a Woman of the Year award to recognize her accomplishments. Her Heileman’s friends have always been an important part of our lives and considered an extension of our family for ever-lasting friendships. She later worked at Walcker Electric in Hokah and occasionally filled in for the Hokah City Clerk where she met her future husband John Guinn. John and Audrey were married on February 12, 2005 in Hokah. Audrey loved gardening, she was quite the carpenter and could build anything, loved remodeling her homes, and especially enjoyed traveling with friends and family. She and John had numerous adventures, they had so much fun traveling through the southern and western states and made a trip to Alaska. While she and John lived in Good Thunder, MN she took great pride in making The Closet at the local church a success. Many young women were provided clean clothes and sympathetic advice to help them during troubling times. She is survived by her daughters; Dana (Mark) Cairns, Valkyrie Brye (Ryan Williamson), and granddaughter; Christine (Andrew) McCain and their children, Landyn, Dontae and Azelene. Stepchildren, Jonna Guinn-Brandt, Margy (Ted) Johnson, Deb (Dave) Onken, Bud (Karlee) Guinn, Faith (Raymond) Pon. 21 step grandchildren, 28 step great-grandchildren all who loved her very much. She is also survived by brother, Arthur (Beverly) Olson, sister, Marjorie (Doug) Bendel, brothers, David (Susan) Olson, Scott (Betsy) Olson and a sister-in-law, Beatrice Olson. And numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Leonard. She was a mentor to many and cherished by all who met her. Mom was the best! A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Caledonia Chapel (518 W. Main Street). Pastor Dave Possing will officiate. A visitation will be held at 9 a.m. until the time of service.
