Obituary for Carla Ann (Zeroth) Dix

Carla Ann (Zeroth) Dix, 79, of West Salem passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. She was born on April 16, 1942 to John Henry and Florence (Smith) Gustafson. Carla was raised in Chisago City Minnesota, graduated from Chisago High School in 1960. She attended college at University of Minnesota with an accounting degree. Carla had a love for all things in nature. Her gardens were the envy of many, especially her rose garden. She loved to watch the birds and could whistle an impressive cardinal song. From her dogs, kitties, bunnies, and birds no animal or child ever went hungry. Carla was an amazing cook and loved to host parties and family events. All were welcome at her table and were treated as family. Her recipes are coveted by all who were lucky enough to receive them. She made Christmas special for her children and grandchildren, from Santa on the roof with his bells to baking Christmas cookies with family. Carla’s version of Christmas was setting out the china and silver, having enough food to feed an army, and the sound of laughter all around. Carla is survived by her loving husband Robert (Bob) Dix; Her three daughters, Deb Hulberg (Bob Kasper), Susan (Phil) Clements, Mary (Luke) Johnsrud and her special relationship with Karl Warner. Her grandchildren Jessica (Kyle) Southwick; Lisa Hulberg; Sarah Hulberg; Melinda (Adam) Wickland: Krystyn (Nick) Burrow; Russell Harrington; Tyler (Becky) Clements; Brooke Clements; Jesse Baum; Amanda Clements; Arianna Clements; Zander Clements; Cody Johnsrud; Bethany Johnsrud. A visitation will be held from 4 pm until 7 pm on Wednesday and from 10 until the time of service, Thursday, both at the funeral home.
