Condolences for Cyrilla P. Barr

Cyrilla Barr was an outstanding and inspiring Professor. It is with great sadness yet the sweetest memories that I learn of her passing. I had the privilege of being her Ph.D. student in Musicology at the Catholic University of America from 1989 to 1992. May God bless her soul.

I once cleaned for Cyrilla when she lived at Washburn appt. She gifted me her book she wrote based on historical facts in a fictional form of a European woman who murdered her husband . I don’t recall the name but was a very good read. Cyrilla inspired me to be a gentler and kinder person. She was such a gentle soul. I always smiled when I saw her portrait at Viterbo Fine Arts Center. I am very sorry for her family’s loss.

I was saddened to hear of Dr. Barr’s passing. She was a huge influence on me during my years at Viterbo as a music major. I marveled at her knowledge of music, her compassion as a human and just her love of life. I will cherish the time I was gifted to be with her. Sister Cyrillia will live on in the memory of so many former Viterbo students. Peace to the family.
