One summer when I was young my grandma taught me the importance of gratitude, particularly that of saying “thank you.” A couple of years ago I came up to Wisconsin from Texas for a visit and got quite sick. I remember grandma in the emergency room with me, rubbing my back and just being there for me. I recall thinking at the time how comforting it was and that I would never forget the image of my 42 year-old self being cared for like a child by my grandma. I am forever grateful for that and every other time that my grandma made special just by showing how much she cared. Thank you, grandma. And thank you to my grandpa, my uncle Gary and my mom for always being there as well, and for together exemplifying the importance of family. Love you all.

To my dear mother, you will always mean the world to me. I will treasure forever the time I was blessed to spend with you. You left me with so many beautiful memories. To my dad, Keith, you chose one of the best with whom to share this earthly life. I’m sure the 75 years you knew each other were far too short. To my brother, Gary, I know you will miss her just as we all will. She was the best mother we could ever have hoped for in this lifetime. Rest In Peace, Mom. Love you forever.
