Condolences for Michael E. "Mike" Lyga

My parents Mia and John Martin have always had the most wonderful memories of their time as great friends with Peg and Mike. I hope Mike meets up with my dad and have a great time fishing in heaven. I hope I can see Peg and Mia spending more time together as they both share such amazing energy and spirit for an active life. My sincere sympathy.

My deepest sympathy to the Lyga Family. I was fortunate enough to have Mr. Lyga as my teacher for 2yrs. I had him for 5th grade math and then as my primary teacher in 6th grade. I was very sorry to hear of his passing, but a lot of memories came to me that I thought I had forgotten. He taught me many things over those 2yrs., but he also made it entertaining. Especially around Christmastime. Mr. Lyga was one of my favorite teachers and I know that he will certainly be missed.

Uncle Mike was a kind and caring person. He made a difference in everyone's life including my own. He was always very welcoming and interested in what was going on. He was a wonderful person and a great educator. Uncle Mike will truly be missed. May you find comfort in the promises of eternity. With much sympathy and love, Joe and Patty

Mike Lyga Jr. and family- Mike, I know that you had a close relationship with your dad. The stories that you shared at school will be priceless memories to hold in your heart. You are creating the same memories with your own family. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Take care friend from a fellow Wyeville staff member.

Peg and family. My mom, Rita Lyga Helgeson from Independence, was a first cousin to Mike. I was saddened to hear of Mike’s passing and extend my condolences to you. I know Mike was proud of his Polish heritage as I recall several Lyga reunions many years ago where Mike’s top priority after arriving was to hoist the Polish flag! Mike also had the honor of being named after his grandfather, Michael Anthony Lyga. I will pray the Lord extend his blessings of peace and strength to you. Greg

We send our deepest sympathy to the Lyga family. We have fond memories of time spent on the river and at the cabin with you and the Needles. Also, the New Year’s Day bonfires and weenie roasts at the land. Only happy memories come to mind when thinking of Mike. He was a great guy. Sincerely, the Hansens
